Off-System Safety Action Program

GDOT-2018-logo

If you live on any of the following Dade County roads, you’ve probably noticed some GDOT workers for the past few days adding new striping.

Burkhalter Gap
Hales Gap

Sunset Drive

Cloverdale Road

New Home Road

New Home Loop

Piney Road

Brow Road

McKaig Road

These new additions are thanks to an Off-System Safety Action Program managed by the Georgia Department Of Transportation. Off-System roads account for approximately 45% of the motor vehicle fatalities in Georgia annually. (An Off-System road is any road not on the National Highway System.) The Off-System Safety Action Program focuses on low-cost safety improvements that can be implemented within the existing rights of way of Off-System routes that are likely to reduce the frequency and severity of crashes.

We are thankful that we were able to be a part of this project to help make our County roads a little safer.
