Senior Center

The Dade County Senior Center is located adjacent to the Dade County Sports Complex. The Center offers many services and is the hub for Public Transit for the county.

The Center is designated by the Georgia Department of Human services as an Area Agency on Aging (AAA). Through the NWGRC the center develops and administers programs for seniors throughout the regional service area. These programs include but are not limited to:

  • Community/public education and events, materials, support groups for
    • Community Care Services Program
    • Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
    • Georgia Cares
    • Georgia Legal Services

Care Statistics for Senior Citizens in Northwest Georgia through the NWGRC:

  • $1,337,469 savings to 1,882 clients contacted for Medicare Part D enrollment
  • 294,552 home-delivered meals to 1,618 persons
  • 95,881 congregate meals to 1,207 persons
  • 18,813 hours of homemaker services to 217 persons
  • 13,540 hours of in-home respite services to 91 persons
  • 22,082 hours of adult day care to 68 persons
  • 377 hours of case management for 154 persons
  • 7,335 wellness program sessions for 1,918 persons
  • 57,357 transportation trips for 2,531 persons

Another service offered to Seniors is the Elderly Legal Assistance Program (ELAP). ELAP provides persons age 60+ with legal representation, information and education in civil legal matters throughout the state of  Georgia . It is required by federal law and funded primarily by the federal Older Americans Act. Services they provide include:

  • Legal information
  • Legal Counseling
  • Case Representation
  • Legal education sessions to help older Georgians prevent more costly, time-consuming legal problems
